Companies House logged 39 new firms at Bournemouth addresses in August, from a Charminster Road shawarma bar to a Winton coffee company. BH2 and BH8 lead.
Thirty-nine new companies were registered at Bournemouth addresses in August, according to Companies House. That is the count across the BH1 to BH11 postcodes, checked against the register at the end of the month.
Food leads the list. Six of the 39 are food businesses of one kind or another:
- Hawler Shawarma Ltd, registered 21 August at 45 Charminster Road, classed as a take-away food shop
- Tropical Tokyo Ltd, registered 25 August in Commercial Road, classed as an unlicensed restaurant or cafe and take-away
- Carper’s Coffee Limited, registered 25 August at 906 Wimborne Road, classed under production of coffee and coffee substitutes
- Down The Hatch Convenience Ltd, registered 3 August at 319 Holdenhurst Road, a convenience retailer
- Liya Mini Market Ltd, registered 13 August at 680 Christchurch Road in Boscombe, a convenience retailer that also lists tobacco sales
- Bou Mini Market Limited, registered 7 August in St Albans Avenue, whose filing records its trade, presumably by a slip of the form, as “growing of rice”
Where they are
BH2 and BH8 tie for first place with eight new companies each. Boscombe’s BH5 is next with six.
The full split: eight each in BH2 and BH8, six in BH5, four in BH1, three each in BH4 (Westbourne) and BH9 (Winton), two each in BH6 (Southbourne), BH10 (Ensbury Park) and BH11 (Kinson), and one in BH7.
Beyond the food businesses, the register shows the usual Bournemouth mix:
- Trades and services: Super Bin Bros Ltd, a specialised cleaning firm in Broadway Lane; A&G Delta Construct Ltd in Ensbury Park; Exterior Edge Group Ltd; DMC Repairs and Small Works Limited in Boscombe
- Tech: Gigzilla Ltd, a software developer registered 20 August in BH10, plus AJC Software Ltd in Westbourne and Dataverge Technologies Ltd in the town centre
- Health and retail: Spine Centre UK Limited, registered 20 August at 70 Seabourne Road and classed as a retailer of medical and orthopaedic goods
- Money: Pelorus Wealth Ltd, registered 13 August in Southbourne under activities auxiliary to financial intermediation
- Media and production: Scoria Productions Ltd, Pursuit Productions Limited, True Peak Media Ltd and BH8 Entertainments Limited
What a registration does and does not mean
A Companies House registration records an intention, not an opening. Some of these will become shops and firms you can walk into. Others will trade quietly from home, and some will never trade at all.
The registered office is not always the place of business either. Tropical Tokyo’s registered address, for instance, is a flat in Commercial Road. Where we name a street above, that is the address on the register, nothing more.
A few register entries were left out of the count because they are not actually in Bournemouth. Two companies registered at Bournemouth Airport are in Christchurch, and four more matched only because they sit on a road called Bournemouth Road, in Poole and in Chandler’s Ford near Eastleigh.
What it means for you
Each name above links to its free Companies House record, and you can look up any company the same way: directors, filing history and accounts, at no cost. It is worth doing before you pay a deposit to any new firm.
The register cuts both ways, and we report the other side too. Our news pages carry the insolvency notices for the area as they are gazetted, and 39 new registrations in a month is the context those notices sit in. For what is being built to house all this, see our Bournemouth planning news page.
