BCP's garden waste bin goes up £2.50 to £73.50 for 2027. Collections run 25 January to 10 December; sign up by 31 December to get all 23 of them.
BCP Council’s garden waste collection will cost £73.50 per bin in 2027, up £2.50 from this year’s £71. Sign-ups and renewals opened on Tuesday.

The rise is 3.5%. The council’s release does not give a reason for it.
How the price has moved
The price has risen at every step we can find since 2022. At £73.50, the 2027 charge is exactly half as much again as the £49 charged for 2021.
- 2021: £49. (BCP Council, October 2020)
- 2022: £46.44. This was cut to take off the cost of two collections missed in 2021, when crews were short through Covid self-isolation and a national lorry driver shortage. (BCP Council, October 2021)
- 2023: £60, with 22 collections. The council put the rise down to inflation and other operating costs. (BCP Council, October 2022)
- 2025: £67.50, with 23 collections. (BCP Council, October 2024)
- 2026: £71. (BCP Council, October 2025)
- 2027: £73.50.
We could not find the council’s announcement of the 2024 price, so it is left out rather than guessed.
How to sign up or renew
- Apply online through your BCP Council account. The council asks people who can renew online to do so, to keep the phone lines free.
- Apply before 31 December and your bin, plus any extra bins, arrives before the service starts. Apply later and delivery takes up to 20 working days.
- The price is the same whenever you join. There is no discount for signing up part way through the year.
- There are no stickers or paper calendars. Crews hold a list of paid-up addresses. Check your collection day and download your calendar on the council’s website.
- Bins are 240 litres. Landlords paying for several homes should set up a customer account, not a business one, because the council cannot invoice.

What it means for you
- If you already subscribe, your 2026 collections carry on to the week ending 11 December. Your 2026 subscription does not roll over: you need to renew for 2027.
- If you join after 31 December, the council does not promise all 23 collections, and the price is still £73.50 whatever date you join.
- Put the bin out by 5am on collection day. The council says crews often work into the evening and may collect until 11pm.
