This year’s pantomime at Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre is Aladdin, running Saturday 5 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027, with 47 performances and tickets from £18 before booking fees.

If you are going to book, the date that matters right now is Sunday 20 September. That is when the theatre’s “Double Trouble” 2-for-1 offer stops: it is valid “for bookings made until Sun 20th Sep 2026”, on selected performances and seats, with the discount applied at checkout. School and youth groups have their own deadline, 30 September, for a £2 per ticket early bird reduction.

Who is in it

  • James Cartwright as Abanazar. The theatre bills him as fresh from Coronation Street, where he played Theo Silverton.
  • Jamie Steen as Widow Twankey.
  • Noel Brodie as Wishee Washee, returning for his 12th year.
  • Kristel Herrera, a Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist.

The performance schedule

Two shows on almost every playing day. The pattern is worth reading before you assume a date is available, because the run is dark on Monday 7, Thursday 10 and Thursday 17 December, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, and there is only one show on 29 and 30 December and on 3 January.

Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and 28 December all run early, at 1pm and 5pm, rather than the usual matinee and evening times.

Relaxed and captioned performances, and a mistake on the theatre’s own page

The performance listing marks:

  • Relaxed: Tuesday 15 December, 10.30am, and Wednesday 30 December, 2.30pm
  • Captioned: Monday 21 December, 2.30pm

Relaxed performance tickets are £25 plus a £3 transaction fee.

Be careful reading the small print, because the page contradicts itself. In the groups section it correctly describes “captioned (Mon 21 Dec) and relaxed performances (Wed 30 Dec)”. In the under-16s section, the labels are swapped: it reads “relaxed (Mon 21 Dec) and captioned (Wed 30 Dec)”. The dates being exempted from the blackout are the same either way, so the discount still applies on both, but the description is wrong in one of the two places. The performance listing is the one to trust. The top-of-page summary also lists two relaxed dates while the concessions box mentions only 30 December.

Discounts, and when they do not apply

Almost every offer is blocked over the peak fortnight. The recurring restriction is not available Saturday 19 December to Monday 1 January, with the captioned and relaxed shows carved back out.

  • Under-16s: £5 off price bands A to C. Blacked out 19 December to 1 January except the captioned and relaxed performances. Select “child under 16” when choosing seats.
  • Friends and Family Saver, 6 or more: £3 off bands A and B, applied automatically online.
  • Groups of 20 or more: £4 off bands A and B, plus one free place per 20 tickets.
  • Groups of 50 or more: £4 off bands A and B, plus a free ice cream each.
  • Schools and youth groups of 10 or more, including Brownies and Cubs: £23.25 a ticket in every price zone, with £2 off if booked and paid for by 30 September 2026. Groups of 50 or more also get free ice creams. One free staff place per 10 paid tickets for schools, one free leader ticket for youth groups.
  • School and youth group rates apply only to these performances: Sat 5 Dec 7pm, Sun 6 Dec 3pm, Sun 13 Dec 3pm, Sat 2 Jan 7pm, and the 10.30am shows on Tue 8, Wed 9, Mon 14, Tue 15 and Wed 16 December.

Getting there and parking

The Pavilion is at Westover Road, Bournemouth BH1 2BU, box office 0300 500 0595, run by the charity BH Live. It is a five-minute walk from The Square and about 20 minutes from Bournemouth station.

The theatre notes that its car park “is operated by BCP Council”, not by the venue, so the theatre’s ticket does not get you anything on the parking. Before an evening show in December, check roadworks and travel: Westover Road itself is inside the BCP temporary traffic order covering the town centre bus improvement works, which runs to 28 February 2027.

December evenings in the town centre are also the Christmas market and light trail season, so the car parks nearest The Square are at their busiest of the year on exactly the nights the panto plays.

What is still to come

  • A running time. The theatre has not published one for Aladdin.
  • BSL or audio described performances. Only relaxed and captioned dates are listed so far.
